The Knox County SWCD holds an annual native prairie plant plug sale each spring. Please contact the office for more information.

Native plants are beneficial, easy, eco-friendly, and rewarding to grow because…..


•once established, they require little water


•no need to fertilize or mulch


•less work than traditional landscaping


•less prone to disease and pests


•create a natural habitat (provide food and shelter for wildlife)


•you can share seeds with others


•beautiful color and texture all year


•many are deer resistant or minimally damaged by deer


•many kinds attract butterflies and birds


•many work well in dried and fresh flower arrangements
